The COVID19 pandemic has upended momentum on various international climate meetings, including COP26 in Glasgow which is now set to take place in late 2021. While COP26 has been postponed to late 2021, the climate crisis has not been postponed and is in fact getting worse. The road to COP26 must now pave the way for even more ambitious climate action by governments who owe their citizens a safe and sustainable future, based on the strongest levels of multilateral cooperation. Governments must stay on schedule to deliver ambitious and enhanced national climate plans in 2020 to ensure that solutions to tackle the Covid19 crisis are aligned with a climate-safe future.
