Join us for a film screening of new upcoming short films of the #WorldWeWant campaign on climate impacts, followed by a discussion from Egyptian and global experts and civil society leaders.

Background

A long term partnership between Climate Action Network (CAN) and If Not Us Then Who? brings you an in-person and live event for the #WorldWeWant Campaign on Climate Impacts. This campaign amplifies the voices of people fighting on the frontlines of multiple emergencies through visceral new films and events that show local climate impacts and solutions.

The #WorldWeWant Campaign works to deepen relationships with CAN’s grassroots voices connecting them to a global audience, engaging them in a common vision on the World We Want. The campaign uses every opportunity, space and event to forefront the affected voices sharing their narratives about their fight on their terms.

Five months ahead of COP27 in Egypt this unique event will explore the impact of the climate crisis, extractive practices and colonialism on people and the right of frontline communities to protection, compensation and reparation through direct finance. This will be discussed following the screening of locally sourced films and a panel discussion gathering affected communities,. science and youth from Egypt and other countries.

  • The CAN Secretariat, CAN Arab World and its member Ain El Beeah are organizing a screening event on June 21st, followed by panel discussion featuring international voices from the frontlines and youth, academicians, scientists and civil society from Egypt
  • The main event will be preceded by a series of events led by Ain El Beeah and the Faculty of Higher Studies and Environmental Sciences at Ain Shams University under the hashtag the #EgyptWeWant.
