Ahead of the Green Climate Fund pledging conference on 24-25 October in Paris, which comes at a crucial time in global political efforts to unlock ambition, civil society speakers outline what is needed to respond to the climate crisis. Fair, predicable and transparent finance is hardwired into equity and stronger ambition in 2020, particularly for developing countries with conditionalities in their national climate plans and to support vulnerable communities.
The panelists provided an overview of the current status of pledges, the political dynamics shaping the contributions, how current pledges relate to the promised $100 billion by 2020 and why early ambitious financial pledges can tip the scales towards success at COP25 and COP26.
SPEAKERS:
- Lucile Dufour, International Political and Development Officer, Climate Action Network France
- Jan Kowalzig, Senior Policy Adviser Climate Change, Oxfam Germany
- Lidy Nacpil, Coordinator, Asian Peoples Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD)
