CAN International Annual Report 2023-2024

Climate Action Network decided that the big fight for 2023 would​ be securing a multilateral win on ending fossil​ fuels. We deepened our collaboration with rights-based constituencies – Global Campaign to Demand​ Climate Justice (DCJ), Women and Gender (WGC),​ trade unions (TUNGO), YOUNGO, Indigenous​ Peoples (IP), and other networks such as the​ Fossil Fuel Treaty – through joint planning for our​ escalation strategy to end fossil fuels.

2024 was the year to land a new climate finance goal (the new collective quantified goal – NCQG) at the UN climate negotiations. The mandate was clear: ensure adequate finance to shift the world onto a 1.5°C pathway in line with the Paris Agreement. CAN therefore chose climate finance as its escalation strategy for the year.
