Thomas Pullenkav
Renewable Energy Expert - Global Platform of Action on Renewables
About Thomas
Thomas Pullenkav has more than 25 years of experience in the renewable energy and energy access sectors. Before joining CAN, Thomas worked as an independent consultant providing advisory support for projects and programs being implemented by bilateral and multilateral organizations in India and sub-Saharan Africa in the energy access and renewable energy sectors.
Thomas was one of the founding members of the team that started SELCO – a social enterprise that provides energy solutions to under-served households and businesses in rural India, and he served the organization in various capacities for more than 13 years. He is still actively associated with the SELCO family of institutions in his capacity as an independent director on the board of the social enterprise and an advisor to the SELCO Foundation. Prior to this, he worked with TATA BP Solar India Limited (now TATA Power Solar Systems Ltd.) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Thomas’s passion for renewable energy stems from his belief that renewables in addition to being the single largest contributor to help humankind restrict global warming to 1.5°C, also has the required versatility to bring about social and ecological equity and justice.
Thomas is an alumnus of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), and lives in Bangalore, India.
