About Lerato

Lerato is a passionate advocate for climate justice with over a decade of experience in media and strategic communications. With a strong background in both broadcasting and climate change advocacy, she brings a wealth of expertise to her work.

Lerato’s recent role as Head of Communications at the Centre for Environmental Rights, a South African non-profit law firm, saw her lead strategic communications on significant environmental and air pollution litigations like the Deadly Air and Cancel Coal cases, as well as advocacy efforts around South Africa’s Climate Change Bill. Prior to this, she served as the Africa Communications Coordinator for 350.org, where she supported impactful campaigns across Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa to fight against fossil fuel use.

Her experience also includes her work with the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), a global network working to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). In this role, Lerato coordinated with diverse members worldwide to execute cross-national campaigns such as the 2019 Global Action Week for Education and the 6th GCE World Assembly in Nepal.
Lerato thrives on using multimedia platforms to address the climate crisis, ensuring that no one is left behind. She works seamlessly across regions, diverse people and teams to co-create and implement strategic communication campaigns that align with organizational goals and drive meaningful change.
