About Irtaza
Irtaza is experienced in project development and grants management, with expertise in proposal design, donor prospecting, pipeline management, and impact reporting. His work focuses on building funding partnerships that drive meaningful change. He is passionate about climate justice, humanitarian response, and promoting volunteering as a catalyst for systemic transformation.
Irtaza also brings a strong background in leveraging technology and innovation for social impact. Before joining CAN, he worked at Tarjimly, an AI-powered nonprofit dedicated to eliminating language barriers for refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers worldwide. In this role, he mobilized resources and funding to explore how technology can empower vulnerable communities. He also brings valuable field experience from ACTED, where he supported relief and development programs responding to the needs of crisis-affected populations.
Earlier in his career, Irtaza interned with UNDP, contributing to initiatives aimed at strengthening civil society organizations across 57 countries. He holds a Bachelor’s in Economics and an MPhil in Development Studies, and is based in Islamabad, Pakistan. Deeply committed to equity and inclusion, Irtaza strives to ensure that innovation and development benefit those most in need.
Outside of work, Irtaza is a massive football fan, an avid movie enthusiast, and loves to spend time hiking. He happily earns back the calories he burns, thanks to his incurable sweet tooth and love of dessert.
