Mamady Kobele Keita

Mamady Kobele Keita is the newly nominated Executive Director for the Conakry-based NGO “Guinee Ecologie” where he has been working since 2007as climate change team leader, with a responsibility to improve the NGO participation to the UNFCCC process, serve as contact point for climate change issues and develop a capacity building program for both the NGO and other local institutions.

In 2010, he was intern at the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Center where he contributed the development and implementation of the GEF West Africa Climate Change and Protected Areas full size project, and to the assessment of the West Africa Protected Areas system dataset.

Mamady is from Guinea and has completed a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering (University of Conakry 2002) as well as several training including Adaptation to Climate Change and Development (ENDA TM / IIED 2009), Geographic Information Systems (ESRI 2007), Project Management  (Ghana Institute GIMPA 2004) and the ongoing “Business and the Environment Diploma” (Stonebridge Associated colleges, Cornwall, UK).

He fluently speaks and writes French and English and is an active member of the CAN West Africa Node, the Climate and Development Network and the West Africa section of the World Commission on Protected Areas.
