Dharini has worked in the area of agriculture and climate change and was most recently with the CGIAR's Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security Research Programme as the South Asia Communications Specialist. Her work gave her a unique insight into how climate change is affecting farming communities in some of the world's most vulnerable regions and the policy frameworks that are needed to tackle climate change at different levels.
Prior to this, she worked for the UNFAO in New Delhi as a National Communications Associate.
Following her postgraduate studies from the University of Vienna, Austria, in Global Studies, with a specialisation in international development, she worked in Brussels, Belgium, first as a Communications and Press trainee at the European Commission and subsequently for an economics policy think tank, Bruegel .
Dharini is trained as a journalist and began her career as a news journalist for The Hindu, an English daily in India.
